As we all took in the green valley scenery of Roleystone on the drive out to Araluen Botanic Park it really set the scene for what was to be a house music lovers fantasy at the first ever unique event DEEP VALLEY. Another boutique event organised by the same team that brought us ‘All My Friends’ and ‘Like Minded People’.
Walking into the festival around a mossy lake over a board bridge and fairy lights, you saw the back of the second stage, that sat on the other side of the water with levels of grass tearing up in into the gardens. This stage had the likes of Perth talents, Tom Jacobs creating an awesome atmosphere.
Following the bridge out onto the main stage, Genga was creating more of a chill house vibe through the day with picnic blankets under trees, hula hoop dancers and pirate jugglers. With pop-up bars producing tailored cocktails and serving your festival favourite craft beers, ciders, wine and spirits we sat under umbrellas around tables made of recycled pallets.
We grabbed a cocktail and walked further down into the festival to the main side of the Lake Stage. This was the place to be with a grassed amphitheatre overlooking the scenery and people getting into the zone with Nu Groove and Shadow Brothers.
We weren't disappointed by choice of food either- with a fleet of food trucks lining the main footpath serving delicious cuisine from around the world. Around 5pm is when it all kicked off on the main stage bringing the dance floor into play with people recognising the deep bass lines and unique vocalist sounds of SET MO - a duo from Sydney with a mutual love of deep house and techno vibes. Even the pirate themed hula-hoop dancer got up on stage with his tricks giving the crowd a show mid set.
Moving back over to Lake Stage as the sun was setting to catch UK Producer Patrick Topping, renowned worldwide for his infectious tunes, we saw the crowd really getting in the mood. Glowing people on stilts were roaming the crowd ducking in and out of the heaving dance floor.
People started heading back to the main stage for the international headliner, and we saw everyone piling in to get a good spot in the mosh to watch the creative and iconic MK from Detroit playing tracks ranging from his worldwide hits to his more underground deep house dance-floor bangers. All in all the vibe from the crowd all day was infectious and hopefully there is enough support to keep this going for next year!
