Radolescent are the four-piece pushing and representing punk in Queensland. It's been a big year for the band. With a string of singles and national tour under their belt, they’ve also gained another guitarist. To top that all off they've now released their debut album.
The first half of Prehab sees the band really testing their playing. It opens with the blazing ‘Retina’ and it's followed by ‘The Other Side’, a protest tune directed at their local government. In the band’s view they’re crooked dogs.

‘Locked Up’ is introduced with a snippet from the classic Corey Worthington interview on A Current Affair. The band then kicks in with the story of an eventful weekend of their own and a very catchy chorus. There are not many mellow songs on this record but ‘Tuck Me In’ was an unexpected surprise. It's ‘406’ though that is the highlight. This long-player's third song demonstrates the band’s maturity in songwriting and is their first rock ballad.

The second half of the album pleases old Radolescent fans with noticeable references to their carefree lifestyle and the usual nods to their punk roots. ‘Drug Fiend’, ‘Speed Based’ and ‘Water Demon’ are loud and rude just as you like them. Familiar single ‘The Ballad of Lynn Howl’ concludes the album on an excellent note with unforgettable falsetto vocals sure to stay in your head for days.

If anything, Prehab informs us that these Gold Coast punks have matured in songwriting. Their behaviour? Not so much.

Prehab is an excellent debut.
