It was a perfect night in Perth for this week’s episode of Live at the Orchard, a stunning pop-up bar located next to the Perth Museum. Littered with fairy lights, and picnic blankets on the astro-turf, people laxed out in front of the stage for a mostly seated occasion.

Supporting the night was local artist Teischa, who was backed with an incredibly talented band of chicks! This live set up took her music to the next level, certain percussive elements were tracked behind, I would love to see this emulated live in the future! Her stage presence is captivating and her flawless, bluesy vocals are mesmerising. She mixed up her set, just busting vocals for some tracks and playing her gorgeous electric acoustic in others. She played us a beautiful rendition of James Blake’s 'Retrograde' that made the hairs on my arms stand up, this girl is definitely going places, I am excited to watch her get there!

Bob Evans and Josh Pyke wowed us with an incredible two-hour set. They have been playing together for ten years and there’s no hiding how comfortable these two are with each other on stage.  They played us a ping pong styled set, playing a Pyke song then an Evans song which the guys harmonised and collaborated wonderfully with. They started with Pyke’s ‘Make You Happy’ and then Evan’s ‘Nowhere Without You’. Switching between guitars, a mini keyboard with multiple sounds, harmonicas and casually sipping on craft beer and red wine. These guys had the crowd fully engaged with their playful banter and interesting stories about Josh’s family and their history with ‘The Basement Birds’ (an indi rock group  formed in 2009). It was also interesting to find out that Josh's ‘The Lighthouse Song’  was written about WA’s Leeuwin Lighthouse in Augusta.

The duo wrote two new tracks for the tour which were free for anyone who attended the concert. These tracks were amazing! One of them was called 'Desperate', and it reminded me of a chilled out Led Zeppelin sort of vibe, really cool. I thought the guys gelled well together already but these songs really were the perfect combination. The old school husky tones of Bob slip into the light mellow vibes of Josh like hats and ties.

The guys ended with a 15-minute solo set each as an encore, it really was a special night, something worth checking out next time these guys take on Australia together.
