It’s easy to see why Ball Park sold out their first show of the 2016 tour “Every Night The Same Dream” which showcases the Australian bands newest album. The room was absolutely buzzing from the get go for these guys. Miami Marketta on the Gold Coast was packed out and full of lively fans who made an epic roar as soon as the band took to the stage. Starting with “Literally Baby” the band matched the vibe of the crowd, creating a really fun atmosphere where you could really see that people were having an awesome time. The music they create is super relatable and exciting, really representing the generation they appeal to.
The night in a one word description would be fun, man these guys really know how to get everyone up and dancing with songs like “Whipping Boy” and “Nihilist Party” from the new album as well as going back to their 2014 album Puddinghead where the band performed an awesome rendition of their track “everything is shit except my friendship with you” which got people grooving and singing along.
The bands lyrics are super catchy and relevant which is no doubt the reason nearly every person in the hall was busting out their best singing voices, myself included. I have to make a special mention at the super cool intro the guys gave for the song “Coming Down”, Ball park put so much energy into their live shows which makes me love the band so much more.
At one point in the night most of the band left the stage leaving just the front man Sam Cromack on stage alone with his guitar to perform the stellar track “Nice To Be Alive” which was definitely a highlight of the evening. The band has a huge fan base who genuinely adore these guys and the music they make. Everyone knew the words to every song, new and old. Ending the night with “All I Want Is You” Ball Park kicked off their tour in absolute style and I can’t wait till the next time I get to see them perform!
