When you walk into an event and 95% of the guys there are dressed in the same band Merch caps, Adidas shirts and cheesy smiles as the band they’re here for, you know just how much of an impact their music has had on their fans. Also, when every single show on their Australian tour sells out, the energy in the room is bound to be incredible and rocking up to the Triffid in Brisbane on the 15th of October, my predictions were indeed correct. The DMA’s are a three-piece trio from Newtown, Sydney and are continuously showing the world just why Australian music is some of the best.

The large venue was absolutely packed to the brim when I arrived 20 minutes before the supporting act had even started and the buzz in the room was undeniable! Bad//Dreems are the type of garage rock band that you leave the room covered in bruises from the swirling mosh, sweat dripping down your face and the long lasting memories of belting out their tunes and dancing till your feet hurt. The heavy bass, electric guitar riffs and the rugged vocals from these guys made for an awesome choice of supporting act, leaving me wondering if this was first, how were the crowd going to react when the main act came on!

Hills End, the band’s debut album was released earlier this year with simple lyrics and intricate instrumental melodies that make you want to stand up there with front man Tommy O’Dell and sing into the microphone. So many beautifully crafted tracks have come off this album and when you watch them perform live you get this unbelievable feeling of nostalgia. Songs like "Melbourne", "Delete" and "Step Up The Morphine" made us weak at the knees as we sang along to the heart-on-the-sleeve like songs. Where songs like "Laced" and "Lay Down" were the perfect opportunity to get rowdy and push around in the mosh. The band isn’t known for their stage presence with little movement from the boys on stage, but personally I think it matches their style and adds to that very DMA’s type feel. What a night!
