Dustin Tebutt has been teasing some exciting news for a while now, The Armidale raised musician who recently moved to Sydney released his 2nd Album on August the 5th. With his first album being critically acclaimed and played all over the radio stations which as been noted as a breakup Album, his 2nd album “First Light” sheds light on the feeling of falling in love again, and boy did he portray that to the crowd.
On Thursday the 5th of August Dustin Tebutt played the first show of his headlining tour at the Byron Bay Theatre. He opened with his most popular song from his first album “The Breach” with soft melodies and subtitle drums in the background, he had the audiences attention from the get go, and such a brilliant way to open a show, one thing I can say is the live sounding in the Byron Theatre captured his soft melodic voice and acoustic ambience perfectly with a backdrop from the stage that set the scene and made the show feel even more intimate then what it was. He then played 2 more songs that were off his new album which was very special as his new album technically wasn't released until 12 midnight that night so we were the first to have a taste of what is to come from him. He played a new single off his new album called “Give Me Tonight” and as he stated when he introduced the song “This is a very sexy song” which might I add it was! This song has so much emotion in it and the way he transposed that to the crowd is something so special and beautiful, with his ambient soft vocals and soft guitar melodies that fitted perfectly together he had the whole theatre's attention and emotions all wrapped up in one.
He then played another 4 songs off his new album “First light, Wooden Heart, Wild Blood and Still in my Heart” which all carried just as much emotion but my particular favourite song he played was “Give me Tonight” there was a really special vibe within the theatre at that point in time. I hadn't seen an artist be able to portray such emotion in there music like that in a long time. Dustin also played a song that was only half written to the crowd and took him a few times to remember the opening verse but once he did he absolutely killed it! What I also liked about Dustins show is that he would introduce each song and shed light to the crowd on what it was written about, which made the show that more intimate, what a beautiful evening. I got the chance to have a chat to him after his show and talk a little bit more about his music carrier, what a lovely down to earth dude! Dustin is currently doing a national tour in support of his new album, I highly recommend going to one of his shows!
