DZ Deathrays
at Miami Shark Bar, already this combo is deadly, couple that with Gold Coasters Trapdoor, Yes Sir Noceur and Von Villains, you know the nights going to be hell.

First up Trapdoor, relatively new on the seen but people can't seem to get enough of these boys. For so long there has been a need for something different in the music scene on the coast and these guys have something. From start to finish I couldn't stop watching their set, lead singer Tim Appleby's voice is so husky and bluesy making it a perfect fit to start the night.

Yes Sir Noceur were up next and having just returned from a break, the boy's released new single 'Turn to Fire' with Aquila Young just in time. No surprise here, they killed. Not long before the gig a flurry of rumours hit social media that the main support, Von Villains would be hanging up their guitars after this one, who really know's that truth, but if it were true, Von Villains definitely gave it a good nudge and certainly weren't disappointing to watch.

Another killer local band on the epic lineup was Von Villains, no stranger to the Shark Bar stage brought the crowd together, amping them up for one huge night ahead, always a fun and power punched show from these guys.

The now 3 Piece DZ Deathrays cooked up a storm for us Saturday night at Shark Bar. Having played sold out gigs across oz, Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival we were excited to have them in our small corner of the East Coast, Miami. It was another sold out gig and the few door sales disappeared within the day. The energy from this moment was charging and the excitement buzzing around the place was infectious.

From the moment they hit the stage the crowd was in a frenzy. If you wanted to drink your drink rather than wear it you either had to skull it or stand at the back. People were having such a good time and the crows surfers were in fine form. They played Gina Works Hearts At  to warm us up but the crowd didn't seem to loose any excitement throughout the set only gain it. The energy on stage was just as big, halfway through the set one of the light leads was tripped and it left the guys without their colourful strobe changes from behind.

This didn't make anything less intense, once they played Blood On My Leather you could tell the crowd was saving any reserved energy for these favourites and the crowd turned into a huge flurry of bodies. The band spoilt us with a couple of their new tracks in the making for their third album, such as Pollyanna.  Never hearing these before the crowd stayed true to their energy for the rest of the set and the guys on stage were stoked to see the response. Despite all the broken glass and the sore necks/body parts after the gig, this night was too much fun. Having the addition of Lachlan Ewbank definitely makes the sound of DZ fuller, larger and tighter than ever!

Definitely worth checking these guys out in the future if you haven't already and make sure you get in early for a ticket! I for one will be seeing them again. Stay tuned for new stuff from DZ Deathrays hopefully treating our ears soon! I feel sorry for the venue who had to clean up an abundance of glass and crap after the show!
