If you’re looking for a cruisey night with good music and $5 pints you need to head along to a Jam Jar show at the Miami Shark Bar. Everytime I attend these gigs I have a ball, meet legends and have the biggest grooves to brilliant local bands. Jam Jar is run by locals Lucus and Rabbit Radio’s own Gina who support local musicians and to prove that there is in fact a great musical community here on the Gold Coast. All the money they make goes towards the bands and their growth. It's one of the coolest ideas and is a great indicator of how passionate us Gold Coasters are about local music.
To be honest, rocking up to this gig I only knew two bands but man there was much hype about every band after the gig. Punters constantly saying, "Did you see the first band, dude," who was of course, Trapdoor.  Trapdoor are a blues / rock five-piece from the Gold Coast. These guys took the stage and killed it with their gutsy sound, making people get up. They are only new to the local music scene but they made a mighty good impression at this gig, can’t wait to hear more from these dudes.

Electric Zebra, friends of Rabbit Radio, impressed the crowd with their epic guitar riffs and Nirvana covers, these young guys have such a good energy and are seriously talented. They have their four track E.P, "Modern Living" available now, super sick psych garage rock, these dudes certainly know how to hark back to the sweet sounds of the '70s punk era.

Up next were The Maslows, a four-piece, also from the Coast, forming back in 2014 and very much inspired by the likes of Pearl Jam, the good old '90s grunge days. These dudes are always gigging around the place, so if you haven’t had a chance to catch them, make sure you do ASAP. You can find their tunes on their website, give them some love and support these cool locals who provide us with tasty tunes.

The last band to play was The Moonlight Society, a group who have been keeping very quiet but as soon as they hit the stage, the mosh filled up and a large amount of heads were banging. This Jam Jar gig was some type of a reunion for the boys who hadn’t played a gig in two years. Although you wouldn't have thought so at all as these guys were so tight and, man their sound resinated well with the audience. They had a good run as a band and played a few shows and when they were asked to fill in for Pilots, who sadly had to cancel last minute, they were stoked and put on a brilliant show. Resident DJ, Tee Cee DJ was there to keep the good vibes rolling with fun beats, so a big thanks to Jam Jar for existing and bringing together all these bands and endless amounts of great energy.

Jam Jar love live music, so continue to support these gigs, rad local bands and keep building this community of music lovers on the Gold Coast.
