Khruangbin, one band I really haven't stopped listening to for about two years now. I've had friends walk down the aisle to their music, it's just so damn beautiful. It makes you feel all the feels. This was the first time the Houston-based band toured Australia, it was a sellout
The band have released two albums with 2015's 'The Universe Smile Upon You' really hooking in a local audience. The Metro Theatre was filled with so many smiling, excited faces. As the 3-piece made their way to the stage, the crowd erupted in applause.

Individually all members are extremely talented and they are even more incredible sync. It felt like we were listening to them on record, it was so crisp. The band played tracks from their two albums so effortlessly. With a very minimum of lyrics in their songs, there was a whole lot of humming and doo doo doo'ing along to the guitar riffs.

Bassist Laura Lee and guitarist Mark Speer had choreographed dance moves. Drummer Donald Ray "DJ" Johnson Jr. was an absolute lord on the jazz kit (also whilst wearing a great poncho). The band then cracked out a cover medley, which included the likes of Snoop Dogg and Chris Isaak to name but a few. Everyone was losing it. This show was seriously wholesome, like a warm hug from your mum while wearing a beanie and drinking a hot chocolate. Yep, that wholesome.

The crowd was beautiful. There was even a girl on a guy's shoulders combing her hair. The band, of course, got an encore. By this time the lovely Laura had changed her outfit and was rocking a gold sparkle two-piece. The band were smiling and looked to be having such a great time, it's a rare thing.

What an evening! I walked away so happy and relaxed.
Khruangbin was one of the best live shows I've seen in a long time. Get around their music if you haven't already, support these crazy talented long fringed people!
