Splendour in the Grass is only one day away, we’re all disorganised and stressed about the rain right?

None of that stress thankyou, the bands on offer are going to make everything okay. If you’re looking at your playing schedule confused and anxious about certain clashes, well we’re here to help, we have our Top 5 Acts to catch at this years festival.

Tame Impala: 26th Sunday, 9-10pm, Amphitheatre

It’s a given right? They've blown up overseas and making their mark on the music scene and we’re proud as punch that they’re Australian, so seeing them playing their brand new third album Currents live isn’t something to miss. Reviewers, record companies and the old blow joe are saying this is the album of the year. If you’ve ever seen Tame Impala live before you know how good their show is, the musical genius Kevin Parker will hypnotise you into a crazy psychedelic trip with their synth’s, crazy guitar riffs and the idyllic, atmospheric vibes created by one of the best bands of their time. If you were to miss Tame Impala’s set I think you’re probably too wasted or went to Splendour for all the wrong reasons… just sayin.

#1 Dads: 24th Friday, 5:30-6:30pm, GW McLennan Tent

Ex Big Scary Member, Tom Iansek has been creating some beautiful stuff as of recently, which he call’s #1 Dads, collaborating with amazing Australian musicians such as Tom Snowdon and Ainslie Wills. With their album All About Face being released this time last year, Tom has been selling out shows around the country since, with their most recent tour having 9 out of 11 shows sold out.  If you haven’t had a chance to listen to the beautiful music, you’ll swoon as soon as you hear the layered goodness of the tracks, dreamy harmonies and good looking musicians. Hmm best combination ever and perfect music for the afternoon.

The Smith Street Band: 25th Saturday, 3:15-4:15pm, Amphitheatre

Be prepared to unleash your inner drunken rioter as Melbourne locals Smith Street Band grace Splendour's infamous Amphitheater with what will surely be an unruly, mosh-worthy set. Their heart-wrenching, anthemic and anti-establishment lyrics (check out their latest track “Wipe that sh*t eating grin off your punchable face”- checkmate Mr Abbot) backed up by their growling guitars will surely leave the Splendour crowd sweaty and in a state of angry happiness only comparable to last years stand out set from Violent Soho.  After the successful reception of their album “Throw me in the River” along with the die-hard anthems such as “Ducks Fly Together” and “Don’t F*ck with our dreams” this will most definitely not be a set to miss.

Kitty Daisy and Lewis: 26th Sunday, 5:45-6:45pm, GW McLennan Tent

I’m ‘Going Up the Country’ to see the dynamic trio from London says all Kitty, Daisy and Lewis fans ready and waiting to have a swing to a vintage sound and celebrate the release of their latest sensationally haunting sound ‘Baby Bye Bye’, coming back with a vengeance since their last release 4 years ago. Having been producing their contagious country tunes for 15 years now, and attaining followers like Dustin Hoffman and the late Amy Winehouse along the way, the grooviest siblings in town will be sure to put on a show to remember. So don’t forget your frilliest, polka-dotted swing outfit and your dancing shoes because you’re guaranteed to be up and jiving to jingles that would put a cheesy grin on any ones face.

Vallis Alps: 26th Sunday, 12:15-1:00pm, Mix Up Stage

A two piece unearthed band from Canberra who are bound to make you groove in the morning sun, their set may be early but you won’t regret dragging yourself out of bed. Vallis Alps are only really new to the music scene but when their debut single ‘Young’ came out people started to get really excited about this young duo. They have two epic singles up their sleaves and I cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us. They’re also playing the Pre Party in Byron the night before it all happens, so they’ll definitely be known around the grounds of Splendour in no time. If you love dreamy, electronic beats then this band is for you.
