A lot of us are catching up on sleep, resting sore heads but still wanting more BIGSOUND festivities, we've recapped our 5 favourite acts of 2015 that we were lucky enough to catch and even have a chat to, let's try and relive the endless amounts of fun that we had at BIGSOUND 2015 !

SLUM SOCIABLE

Slum Sociable are an electronic duo out of Melbourne who also like to describe their sound as 'jazz hop'. The band released their first single 'Anyway' at the start of the year and backed it up with another killer tune 'All Night', as these were the only songs I knew of these guys I was keen to hear what else they had in stall for us at the outdoor Winn Stage. The band pulled a huge crowd and so many people were grooving away for the entire set, the band just finished up on a tour with #1 Dads and this created much of a buzz as they made their way up to BIGSOUND. If you like your oozy, body swaying tunes this is the band for you, I can see great things happening for the guys. Their E.P is due for release on October 9th and you can catch them for their last few shows of their 'All Night' tour in Melbourne and Sydney.

WAAX

Well, well, well what more can I say, WAAX were THE most talked about band at BIGSOUND 2015, after loving these guys since day dot and giving them loads of love on Rabbit Radio I was very keen to see them live again and ended up catching every set they played over BIGSOUND. The band have officially released two singles 'Wisdom Teeth' and 'I For An Eye' and some new stuff of their 'Holy Sick' E.P, we were also lucky enough to catch a sick cover of Foals track ' Inhaler', which brought many smiles and head banging. The lead lady, Marie displays a ever lasting image in your head, her passion and stage presence is something that cannot be fully described until you catch them live. The Brisbane 5 piece are not only the nicest group of people but are definitely on their road to success, catch them before they start selling out massive venues.

SOUNDBEAM SOUND MACHINE

Before I even had heard Nick's stuff I had read he had been compared to artists like Tame Impala, Real Estate and Grizzly Bear, all bands that I love so I knew I had to check out this dudes set. After touring with Art of Sleeping and working a lot with Stu from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, I knew I was already set to make Sunbeam Sound Machine one of my new favourites. With one album under his belt with some super trippy artwork, Nick and the band are still writing and constantly touring, heading over to New York for the very exciting CMJ Music Marathon as well as releasing a 7 inch only a few days ago. If you love your psych rock and any of the bands mentioned above, you'll love Sunbeam Sound Machine.

THE BELLIGERENTS

Have been loving these guys for quite some time now, as well as every other band the members share each other in Morning Harvey, The Furrs, Moses Gun Collective etc. When the guys took the outdoor stage, it filled up mighty quickly but I felt mighty sorry for the drummer, Sam who had been stung by a bee and only had one eye it seemed, but none of the less the band killed it despite injuries. The Brisbane band have built up quite a solid fan base, because they are just damn fun and super talented. You can catch the band on their tour in November/Decemeber playing shows all around the country and Festival Of The Sun in Port Macquarie. Prepare yourself for a never ending night of grooving.

STONEFIELD

Picture
Last, but most definitely not least Stonefield, the 4 sisters who can play their instruments so ever well, and someone who can belt out epic notes whilst killing it on the drums, endless amounts of respect to you! This was actually the first time ever I got to check out the girls set and man aren't I happy I did. Have been loving their music and style since they put their stuff up on Triple J Unearthed, it's unbelievable how much they've grown and how the youngest member of the band was only 7 years old when they first started making music together. Just finished up their 'Golden Dream' tour and on the road again with a few massive shows with Fleetwood Mac when they make their way out to Australia. Such beautiful girls, who are just going to continue killing the Australian music scene, doing it for the girls! yew.
