Having long enticed audiences with their eclectic rock and folk in Canada and America, The Barr Brothers have spread right across from the U.S.A. to the U.K dominating as they go. Returning from a 2 year hiatus The Barr Brothers are ready to cross the ocean with their new single ‘It Came To Me’, and new album Queens Of The Breakers due out October 13th, 2017. Christian Kafritsas, gave it a review!
After a two-year hiatus The Barr Brothers are back to release their third album ‘Queens of the Breakers’ on October 13 th 2017. The Montreal Folk band wrote their new album at a secluded property in the snowy Saint Zenon, Québec.

They’re known to create magical songs from hours of improvisation and that is exactly what took place this time. Brothers Brad and Andrew Barr and Sarah Pagé entered the studio empty-handed and have created an exceptional album
with components of Blues, Folk, Roots and Rock.

In the build up to the album’s release date their single ‘It Came To Me’ was the first taste of the new material. The upbeat original demonstrates their immaculate playing skills with a driving groove and slide guitar. It’s obvious this will become a crowd favourite as you can imagine everyone in the audience sing the chorus “I was wrong and I heard it right”.

Other personal favourites of the album include ‘Look Before It Changes’, ‘Kompromat’ and ‘You Would Have To
Lose Your Mind’. 'Queens of the Breakers’ is a terrific album to follow up their hiatus; its versatility will please most music lovers as it’s obvious a diverse range of world music was an influence during recording. It has the perfect blend of simplicity, catchy hooks and technical playing throughout the album. This applauds their musicianship considering that all the compositions were written purely by improvisation with each other.
