We got to have a little chat with Sunshine Coast lady, Ayla. She's only 19 years old and already getting airplay in Europe and of course loads of love in the Mother Land. Only fresh out of school and already been supporting huge Aussie acts like Husky and Bonjah, there's only more greatness to come for this sweet soul.
You have officially released two singles, how did the release go for them?

Yeah good, the first one was March last year so a little while ago and then 'Waiting' was the follow, released in May this year and another single is set for release very soon. I'm also working on a couple more tracks for the E.P which should be released soon after the third single, so very busy.

Are you still doing lots of writing whilst gigging around?

I'm always writing but nothing more for the E.P, as all those tracks are finalised, I love songwriting, singing and performing all equally. I'm actually performing soon at the Brisbane Festival and Red Deer Festival which are coming up pretty soon.

I read that you're getting a lot of love in Italy, how did this come about?

I've actually got a distribution deal with Ego Records in Italy, they did a remix E.P of the one song 'Wish I Was', the first single I put out, so there are five different remixes of that track. That track got to number 10 on the Italian iTunes Chart, so they've been getting a fair bit of play in the clubs over there too.

You're still pretty young, only 19 years old, when did you start doing this whole music thing?

I've always been writing and singing, also been performing at a lot of school events, busking and playing at little local events on the coast.

Have you met a lot of artists on your travels that have you helped you grow in a way?

Yeah defiantly, when I was younger a few of my dads friends that were in bands helped me out by doing little things like putting chords to my songs because I just used to write lyrics, and then I've had bands from the coast help me out a lot.

What is your ultimate childhood music?

Neil Young, my dad has every Neil Young record. I've got him on in my car at the moment.

Whats the best gig you've ever been to?

Caloundra Music Festival last year, when John butler played solo, I'm pretty sure it was one of the biggest crowds at the festival that year.

I read on your interests you like passionfruit fudge, this sounds amazing, please explain?

Yeah from Montville, you should try it, I tried to make it once, but I actually made a passionfruit and mulberry fudge cake that was quite nice.

Choose 4 artists you'd love to play alongside? Which can be totally unrealistic.

Sia, Florence And The Machine, John Maye and Sarah Blasko.

Whats the plans for after BIGSOUND?

I'd love to work on an album and do more support tours and co-writing, I did one not too long ago with Neil Sutherland who also worked with Bertie Blackman on one of her albums. Katie Noonan, who is a huge inspiration for me and is also from the Sunshine Coast, sent me a message saying she wants to co-write with me, so that's very exciting.
