We got to have a chat with Teddy, the drummer of The Ruminaters about what they've been up too, the release of their E.P, touring and much much more, have a read, have a listen, whatever you please, it's a gooooodie
I saw you guys at big sound, how was it?

Big sound was awesome, pretty full on couple of days for us just in general, it was really cool though we got to meet a whole bunch of cool people, I felt like there was a really nice vibe, we had heaps of fun and the showcase was super fun, we love playing shows in general, it was the first type of bigger industry showcase we’ve done, it was cool.

Did you get a chance to catch any other acts while you were there?

We got to see confidence man, they were hell cool, I think they played an hour before us and we just kind of strolled in there and didn’t really know what it was. We saw shining bird that was really fun, so many bands. Those two were the stand outs for me.

For those who haven’t seen a live Ruminaters performance what we expect?

It’s a pretty wild rockin, time, chaos, we always have heaps of fun and the crowd does to, head bangin’ and a bit of dancing. Everyone is having a wild time.

I think that is reflected through all your music videos as well?

Yeah, I think each song kind of changes up a little bit it’s not all super fuzzy hectic rock, there’s some nice ones in there and there’s some more sing alongs, we try to keep it fresh, when we write we just try and write whatever were feeling, we try not to get to bogged down whether its rock song or an acoustic song we just kind of see what happens. Pencil’s vocals always seem to tie it together somehow like our own kind of sound yeah were having fun.

So I saw the photo you put up for the new music video, what’s the story behind that? Can you give us a little sneak peak as to what’s going on?

Yeah so that’s song is for psychopathic brains explosion which is the new single, I mean it’s pretty much all in the title really, it like a psychopathic brain explosion, its messy, it’s a green screen clip and it’s a cooking show that’s had a psychopathic brain explosion. Yeah it was heaps of fun to film it was a wild weekend it was the same weekend that we made the cover for the record and we wanted to make something and not have any photo shop parts to it or anything and we were trying to figure out how to make it all and it ended up being a 100 times bigger than what thought, but we got it all done and really stoked with how it turned out and more importantly how it sounds.

I also saw that you guys are on The Mountain Sounds festival line up?

Yeah it should be fun, really fun, there’s some pretty solid bands that we are playing with that so it should be really fun weekend in February.

Any stand out acts for you?

Were good mates with the Skegss guys, DMA’S, These New South Wales those guys are wild and The Gooch palms it’ll be a really fun weekend. We’re heading to London over January in the absolute centre of London winter and it’ll be nice to come back in February to Aussie heat.

Can we expect any more festival appearances from you guys?

Yeah but I can’t say which ones, but yeah were finishing off this run of shows, we’re doing Melbourne tonight and then the Chippendale Hotel in Sydney on the 26th and we will be doing a bunch more shows around the mountain sounds festivals throughout February, I think Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Byron and we actually just locked in (I hope I don’t get in trouble for this) New Years at The Northern in Byron which will be fun, that’s our next show up there.

What’s on the cards for next year? Any new music?

Yeah so what we’re doing is in January half of the EP we recorded at Racket studio, which is this amazing studio right around the corner from Abbey road and were going back there to do a full recording, which were really really really pumped about, we will be heading off mid-January for a couple of weeks to record and do a couple of shows, so I mean we will be recording then and coming back for those dates around Mountain Sounds and will be looking at dropping the record mid next year, it’s all coming together.

Yeah cool! Well thanks so much for chatting to me and enjoy the rest of the shows in Sydney and Melbourne, have some yum food.

Yeah it’ll be great, we just had brekky in Sydney and now going to eat again in Melbourne, yeah thanks Tash.
