Four psychedelic  dudes from the hills of Byron Bay missioned their way up to the Rabbit Radio Headquarters last week to share some of their latest and greatest tunes with us in our studio. Despite the the tight squeeze and strange-flavoured chips that were being shared around (since when was 'vintage' cheese chips ever a thing), an awesome jam session filled with laugher and sarcasm was shared, as well as a down-to-business chat about that band and what they have in stall for us.  The 60's inspired fella's played two unreleased tracks that you can check out below

You guys just played some tunes live in our studio, what were they?
One of them is called Fading Out, and the other is called Spinning Around. Fading out was the first one. They’re probably our most recent songs, we’re really excited about them so we really wanted to play them for you. It’s part of producing the songs, playing them live to see if the crowd is enjoying certain parts and not enjoying certain parts.

How’d you guys meet and decide to take this psychedelic path together?
Hahah wow, where do we begin. Many moons ago. We met on a sailing ship.

Where did the band name come from?
Is comes from a Salvador Darling painting, called the ‘Meditating Rose’ It’s just the rose in the desert. Our friend Pascal got it from a garage sale for $3.65. We had it in the living room of our house, and when Ewin and I (Nick) started jamming, all of the stuff that kind of made this band happen. So I was watching this painting as Luke came into the band and our headquarters changed but the painting came with us. The painting has just watched everything, seen everything as the band has progressed.

In the painting, the rose is like the sun in the sky, so Sunrose is our name for the painting.

Who would you say has the best hair in the band?
(Laughs)
I’d say Julian!
Nah I’d say Luke!

If you could play anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Under the ocean, or Easter Island. We wouldn’t have anyone there though. We’d bring Julian’s dog for sure, strap a camera on him, and then record it. Whatever the dog’s doing is what the visuals of the performance would be.

So Strange Behaviour is your first debut-released single, what process of creating it?
There wasn’t much to it really (laughs). No, our friend has a recording studio so we did it there. It was a really nice atmosphere because it was in a house, so it wasn’t that studio/production vibe, it was just us jamming. It was a really natural experience exploring the songs. Putting the song out, we didn’t really do much marketing or anything; we just kind of wanted to have something out there for people to listen to while planned on what’s coming for us in the future.

I think the song started out as Ewin’s riff, just playing it around the house. And I was like, I’d like to do some things to that riff (laughs). I think every song starts off like that. Someone will bring something in, we’ll workshop it and grow on it, then someone else will bring in new ideas and so-on until we have a song. We had to make this song a priority, because we always get distracted with new songs and end up with half-finished songs. But it’s nice to know that we’ve always got stuff to work on.

What else is to come from you guys musically in the near future?
Heaps! We’ve got some material ready to release; it’s just kind of arranging a tour at the moment. That should all be happening in July, that will all go down and then not long after that we’ll have more stuff to release. We’ve got more songs than we know what to do with!
