Helllo, it's been a week full of festivities, too much booze and lovely weather, now we back to reality. Here's a list of new tracks to assist with the realisation of reality...... New material from The Pinheads, Mac Demarco, Bootleg Rascal and a whole lot more, have a looookie aye

THE PINHEADS - 'GIMMIE BACK' (Farmer & The Owl)

“Gimmie Back” joins earlier singles “Wildfire” and “Fight or Flight” across nine fast-paced, lo-fi and unmistakable "Pinnies" tracks. Writing for the album began in the deep hinterlands of Northern NSW, where The Pinheads isolated themselves away from the distractions and mundanities of normality, changing the course of their creative process and allowing them to hone their songwriting skills. The band returned home to record at the Pinshed Sound Laboratory, their corrugated iron shed, an ex horse stable in the bush. The album was recorded by front man Jez Player, and mixed by Owen Penglis (Royal Headache, The Grates, Straight Arrows).

BOOTLEG RASCAL - 'WITH YOU' (Sure Shaker)

Sydney’s indie-dub revelers Bootleg Rascal have just unveiled news of a free pop-up show in Sydney tonight at The Record Crate, Glebe and new track ‘With You’ - another taste from their second studio album (due Oct 2017).
Taking cues from the likes of The Roots and Gorillaz, eclectic new cut ‘With You’ combines themes of reggae, dub and hip-hop. Energetic front man Carlos Lara channels the vibes of Leon Bridgeswith his soul-infused and compelling vocal melodies, which are strongly complimented by the bands highly detailed and intriguing approach to composition and production.
Over the past twelve-months, the band has ripped through their first headline tour of Europe and UK, toured Australia multiple times selling out shows all around the country, re-invented themselves as a 2-piece acoustic duo supporting Sticky Fingers across the US and Canada, and had a line-up change. They've also just come off the back of Sureshaker's Annual ‘Shake N Bake’ tour alongside; Boo Seeka, Gold Member and Lyall Moloney, where the band debuted new songs as well as their freshly streamlined, 3-piece flavour.

JIM LAWRIE - 'SLACKER OF THE YEAR' (Barely Dressed Records/Remote Control)

Melbourne’s finest purveyor of heartbroken folk-rock, Jim Lawrie, returns with the shimmering title track from his new album Slacker of the Year, a gorgeously finger-picked daydream ballad which entertains the idea that a bedroom-bound slacker could somehow be celebrated as hero to the masses.

The song came as a result of writers block, muse-less musings and time spent poorly, …and the video encapsulates this perfectly. In Jim’s words, the clip shows him "waking to a world already moving without him, and like a salmon going upstream, he moves through his day waiting to be eaten by the metaphorical bear that is the world around him.”

Jim Lawrie’s upcoming album is a culmination of years of creative introspection. His own stunning take on the building blocks of classic rock and folk.

ROYAL BLOOD - 'LIGHTS OUT' (Warner Music Australia)

After becoming the biggest breaking British rock band with their self-titled 2014 debut album, Royal Blood’s eagerly anticipated second album ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ will be released on June 16th. The album’s electrifying lead single is ‘Lights Out’.

‘Lights Out’ ups the ante from their debut with a wrecking ball of a groove cemented by drummer Ben Thatcher’sthunderous rhythms, while fronman Mike Kerr wrangles the twisted invention of his bass riffs to a whole new level. Their patented two-man artillery of carefully constructed melodic aggression is prevalent throughout ‘Lights Out’.

LORD HURON - 'THE NIGHT WE MET' (Play It Again Sam)

‘The Night We Met’ is currently #23 on the Australian Shazam Chart and has hit over 200,000+ Spotify streams in Australia alone within a week of the series becoming live. The single has entered the Global, UK, Mexico, Spain and Sweden Spotify Viral charts, as well as major playlists ‘Your Favourite Coffeehouse’ (2.3m+ followers), ‘The Most Beautiful Songs In The World’ (1m+ followers), ‘Hanging Out and Relaxing’ (1m+ followers) and many more. Indeed, the track is currently sitting with the top 10 iTunes Alt Charts far and wide including USA, Australia, UK, France, Italy, Netherlands, Ireland & many more!
Strange Trails is the follow-up to Lord Huron’s debut Lonesome Dreams, which gained widespread critical acclaim and acknowledgment in the year end ‘best ofs’ in 2012. The band have performed at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Firefly Music festival & more.

WAVVES - 'MILLION ENEMIES' (Ghost Ramp)

As the hype builds for their forthcoming album You're Welcome, Wavves are back to share a new video and single. The clip for "Million Enemies", the fourth single taken from the new album, was created and produced by Gilles O'Kane and Rocco Rivetti and is the first video that the band is sharing from the album. You're Welcome is out Friday May 19 on Ghost Ramp via Inertia Music.

Speaking about the video's inspiration O'Kane and Rivetti say, "Wavves came to us with the initial concept of a glam-rock inspired performance video in the style of those 1970's U.K. music shows like Top of the Pops, or The Old Grey Whistle Test. I'm a big fan of those early Glam performances by artists like Bowie, T.Rex & Roxy Music. Everything about their performances were astonishing, unique, even by today's standards. But in the 70's there was no precedent. I imagined how inconceivable it would have been to watch those performances on live TV, and from that place came the idea for the narrative. The video for 'Million Enemies' explores the power of music as a method of escapism, Glam Rock fashion, counter-culture super fandom, teenage rebellion, and the unique sense of belonging that's created by listening to your favourite artist."

MAC DEMARCO -'ON THE LEVEL' (Captured Tracks / Remote Control Records)

With under a month to go until the release of Mac DeMarco’s mid-twenties masterwork, This Old Dog, out on Friday 5th May via Captured Tracks / Remote Control Records. Mac offers up another taste of what’s to come with 'On The Level', which has already been named Best New Track by Pitchfork.

Following the more acoustic-minded 'This Old Dog' and 'My Old Man', Mac revels in the high-gloss synth-pop of ‘On The Level’ showing once again that he’s at his best with the slower jams. It’s another contemplative number giving a further glimpse into his relationships with his kin. “This record has a lot to do with my family and my life right now and the way I’m feeling,” he says. “One of the main goals for this record was trying to make sure I retained some kind of realness. That’s the bottom line.”

MESA COSA - 'MATATE' (Independent)

From the many limbs of Melbourne’s favourite delinquent gang Mesa Cosa come 58 seconds of noise filled rowdy Spanish insanity with 'Matate', a teaser trailer & track for the upcoming psychlone of destruction that is their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘El Es Demons’ due this September.

A follow up to their last single 'Stone Bone' which saw the gang burning all of their instruments in a giant fire and scored them RAGE's 'Wild One' of the week, 'Matate' continues Mesa Cosa's elusive and unique output that keeps everyone guessing as to what they will release next. Mixed by Stu Mckenzie (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) & Recorded by Nao Anzai (No Zu) Mesa Cosa’s sophomore album takes another step into their genre blending meld of gang chant anthems and chicano noise rock.
