New music for your ears including Spookyland, The Cairos, Pills, Mercury Rev, Pretty City, Hein Cooper, Jack Grace & more!
SPOOKYLAND – BULLEMIC (INERTIA)

A six minute crescendo of brittle rock and roll, ‘Bulimic’ sees the band come out of their mid-western studio with a harrowing prayer for the outsiders of the world. Premiered on Noisey, “Bulimic” portrays Spookyland’s entire spectrum, incredible vocal delivery matched only with a raw energy tipping them as Australia’s next rock export.
DIET. – YOUR HOUSE (BEKO DISQUES)

DIET. was formed in a North London lounge room by a group of mates travelling through Europe, becoming a fully-fledged band upon their return to Melbourne. The 5-piece is comprised of members of local bands Elephant Ego, Seven Year Itch, and Flamingo Jones' live outfit, working their way through an EP they've toiled over for the best part of two years.

With ‘Your House’, the band presents a track that looks lovingly upon the sounds of Beach Fossils and The Smiths, with the interwoven melodies of Ben O'Loughlin's vocals and a trio of intricate guitar lines matched by a frenetic drum beat and walking bass line.
MERCURY REV – RAINY DAY RECORD (BELLA UNION)

A love letter to vinyl, and the music which populates it, ‘Rainy Day Record’ is the most upbeat song from the album; a joyous Northern Soul-infused stomper, tinged with nostalgia, yet still reveling in the timeless pleasure of discovering music.

The lyrics almost serve as a “thank you” list to the bands who inspired Mercury Rev’s core duo of Jonathan Donahue and Grasshopper, namechecking the likes of New Order, Sonic Youth, The Fall, Elliot Smith, Dead Can Dance and Talk Talk.
THE CAIROS – LOVE DON’T FEEL RIGHT (INDEPENDENT)

Flash forward to 2015 and after amicably parting from their label and with two hands firmly on the creative wheel, the band are back with their highly anticipated, self released, new single ‘Love Don’t Feel Right.’

Organic collaboration via ‘The Cloud’ has led to an evolution in The Cairos creative process; enabling them to lock and load tracks online ahead of rehearsals, streamlining their output and allowing more time for experimentation. The result of which is the new single ‘Love Don’t Feel Right’, which is both familiar and yet more ‘pop’ than previous output.
PRETTY CITY – MARY GO ROUND (INDEPENDENT)

‘Mary Go Round’ captures the sense of psyche wonder of earlier releases and fuses it to the emerging penchant for rock anthems that is fast becoming a staple of the Pretty City live experience. What results is a brooding rock sound that is punctuated by the ‘nu-gaze smashed on the rocks textures’ (Record Rewind Play – UK blog) and glam power pop that remains playful and fun despite the heavy rhythm and grooves and the melancholic submission to fate reflected in the lyrics.
JACK GRACE – HILLS (ANATOLE REMIX) (TEEF)

Anatole has become a highly sought after reworker of songs. His newest reimagining sees a brand new spin on Jack Grace’s ‘Hills’. The original song has had nearly 300,000 plays online since it’s release mid-2015 and is a challenging journey through siren-sound and stutter beat, pulsing with staggered rhythms and male/female vocal sections. Anatole’s reworking of the track completely restructures the vocal arrangements, sampling them in and out as his signature string arrangements build over his ever meticulous beats.
PILLS – SLUGGER (STRANGE YONDER)

Pills return with their third single 'Slugger'. After the release of '2004' and 'Birthdays' earlier in the year, the Sydney elecronic/trip hop collective have today released 'Slugger' unto the world. An ode to the fine art of fisting, Slugger is a tense, energetic and sometimes brutal electronic anthem.
HEIN COOPER – RUSTY (INDEPENDENT)

The first taste of the new album comes in the form of ‘Rusty’, a breezy summer slice of acoustic pop, perfect for kicking back and watching the world go by…. but with a deeper message for those who want to dig below the surface.

Rusty came about while improvising over loops at a show in Sydney two years ago, with a killer riff emerging that Hein Cooper took and wrote the song over the top.
