THE JIM MITCHELLS – PLANET ABSORBED (Third Eye Stimuli Records)

Sydney-based band, The Jim Mitchells, have released the whacked out video for their debut single“Planet Absorbed”. The film clip transports us into the bizarre world of Jim Mitchell - the multi-faceted master mind behind the band.  Filmed and edited by Sydney lads - The Lagoon Collective the clip follows on from the initial buzz of the bands first single release.  with the clip conceptualised and directed by Jim Mitchell himself, join Jim  as he trips through multiple alternate realities, blending together to create one crazy chunk of garage psych rock! Having listened to this song for the first time at 11.00pm in the comfort of my bed, it took about 2 second's of this 'psych-infused rukus' (Happy) to get me head bobbing and out of bed. Think... The Murlocs, coupled with Thee Oh See's...

“The idea of the clip was to show the different aspects of myself within the writing and recording process and have them represented visually by the different use of colour and setting”.

KITA ALEXANDER- PLAIN SIGHT (Warner Music Australia)

Kita Alexander returns with ‘Plain Sight,’ the second track from her debut EP ‘Like You Want To.’ ‘Plain Sight’ has been a crowd favourite at Kita Alexander’s live shows with Meg Mac and Jarryd James in December and Angus and Julia Stone in March. Having received support from Sunday Times, Faster Louder, Idolator, Clash, The Fader, Kita Alexander is winning fans over world-wide, a trend that looks to continue with ‘Plain Sight’ garnering over 1.6 Million streams on Spotify already.

Kita will next join Matt Corby on his sell-out tour for select Sydney and Brisbane dates.

PJ HARVEY – THE ORANGE MONKEY (Inland Records)

‘The Orange Monkey’ is another new track from PJ Harvey’s new album, ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project.’
The Hope Six Demolition Project draws from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. The album was recorded last year in residency at London's Somerset House and is produced by Flood and John Parish.

WHAT SO NOT & GANZ FT JOY - LONE (OWSLA)

Arguably Australia’s favourite producer, What So Not, and Netherlands beat master GANZ have teamed up for 'Lone'. Featuring vocalist/producer JOY., the song comes alongside What So Not's last minute addition to the Groovin The Moo line up and the announcement of GANZ's 'GAO North America Tour'. Lone was written by What So Not, GANZ, JOY. and long-time collaborator George Maple. The release sits amid an exciting new RÜFÜS Innerbloom remix from What So Not, and GANZ’s hip-hop heavy single GAOBEAR ft. Dusty.

ROYAL BLOOD - WHERE ARE YOU NOW (Warner Music)

The duo saw the trailer for Vinyl and wrote "Where Are You Now," a swaggery, stompy cut anchored in fuzzed up, muscular riffs.

"Hearing Richie Finestra talk about the first time you heard a song that made your hairs on the back of your neck stand up or made you wanna dance or kick someone's arse," explains Mike Kerr regarding the conception of this tune. "I just wanted to write a song that gave me that sort of buzz."

“Where Are You Now” is available from the soundtrack “Vinyl 1.8” EP

LYALL MOLONEY-IF YOU DONT LOVE ME (Sure Shaker Records)

Renowned lover of parties and dogs, Lyall Moloney, has dropped the first single from his forthcoming sophomore release, and it comes with the multi-instrumentalist's classic dubbed-out touch. The new track, 'If You Don't Love Me' gives an insight into L¥MØ's distinctive high vocals for the first time, and might just be his catchiest work yet.

CREPES - HIDDEN STAR (Deaf Amibitions)

Melbourne’s ever-endearing
Crepes are back with another trademark slice of cosmic surf-pop, 'Hidden Star'. ‘Hidden Star’ is the quintet‘s first taste of new material in 12 months, and it’s every bit arresting and starry-eyed as you’d expect. Swirling synth melodies meld with jangly guitar and honeyed vocals steeped in nostalgia. It harks back to the surreal and near-naive pop of Sgt Pepper's era Beatles, delivered with the charm and allure one would attribute to Foxygen,Chris Cohen or Ariel Pink.

Following "the story of two people being lost in different situations and finding guidance through the will to live", as songwriter Tim Karmouche puts it – it’s a deliciously dreamy take on guitar-pop with an existential twist.

As Crepes continue to lay down material for their sophomore release, this promising young band can be confident 'Hidden Star' is another step in the right direction.
