STONEFIELD – STRANGER (Wunderkind)

Since the release of their debut self-titled album in 2013, Melbourne’s favourite psych-rock sisters have spent the last three years hard-out gigging. Locally and internationally, they’ve secured sought-after spots on the world’s biggest stages including Glastonbury, The Great Escape and a recent electrical stint at SXSW 2016.  The fierce four-piece are thrilled to share their new single ‘Stranger’, a swirling new sound that fortifies the high anticipation for the band’s sophomore album.
lead singer Amy Findlay describes ‘Stranger’ as a song based on craving something that you know is bad for you. “You always want what you can’t have.”

MOSSY – GINSBERG (IOHYOU)

I OH YOU is thrilled to present you with ‘Ginsberg’, the second single from MOSSY, the nom de guerre of Sydney multi instrumentalist Jamie Timony. It follows the release of Electric Chair that has since spread to blogs all over the world (including Stereogum, ID, Bullet, Earmilk). Inspired by his two favorite Allen Ginsberg poems ‘An Eastern Ballad’ & ‘Cosmopolitan Greetings’, ‘Ginsberg’ see’s MOSSY move into a wistful down tempo psychedelic groove, provoking images of a New York winter.

Extending on the influence of Ginsberg’s poetry, Timony states, “At the end of Cosmopolitan Greetings there is a line that says “Candour ends paranoia”. That line/idea changed my life almost instantly. I wrote it on a piece of paper and stuck it on my bedroom wall where I could see it everyday. I was quite paranoid and anxious at the time and there was shit in my life I wasn’t looking at. That coupled with the idea of a profound awakening (“so long my sleep”) that An Eastern Ballad toys with were dynamite for me.”

GORDI – WANTING (Liberation)

‘Wanting’ is the latest track to surface from Gordi’s upcoming debut EP Clever Disguise, following on from previous singles, Nothing’s As It Seems and Can We Work It Out. Again, the Sydney-via-Canowindra artist exhibits elegantly simplistic song writing. Her lush vocal melodies wash effortlessly over a harmonious balance of organic and electronic instrumentation, creating a gorgeously unique and recognisable sound.

Having written the song and with a sonic vision in mind, Gordi – aka Sophie Payten – recorded the body of ‘Wanting’ in Melbourne, before collaborating on the final production of the track with Reykjavik-Los Angeles based producer, Alex Somers (Sigur Ros, Jonsi).

THE PARROTS – LETS DO IT AGAIN (Heavenly Recordings / [PIAS])

Madrid three-piece The Parrots release their brand new single ‘Let’s Do It Again’, via Heavenly Recordings.
Recorded at Paco Loco Studios in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), an oasis near the beach in the south of Spain, whilst drinking beers and Horchata and pulling inspiration from Moroccan delicacies, friendship and a loyalty you need to believe in: it’s fair to say ‘Let’s Do it Again’ was laid down in a haze of elation and intoxication.

Engineered and co-produced by Paco Loco (Hinds) and mixed by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring / Total Control), instantaneous twanging guitar paints a warm, fuzzy backdrop to ‘Let’s Do It Again’, mixing the rolling reminiscence of the twisted garage-psych found in yé-yé era Spain with The Parrots’ truly contemporary approach to songwriting; hauled into the modern age Diego Garcia’s raw and impassioned vocal

THE CLAYPOOL LENNON DELIRIUM - 'CRICKET & THE GENIE [MOVEMENT I, THE DELIRIUM] (ATO Records/ [PIAS]).

Taken from 'Monolith Of Phobos' album out 3 June 2016 through The Claypool Lennon Delirium are proud to release their debut single ‘Cricket and the Genie’ through ATO Records. As previously announced, Les Claypool and Sean Lennon decided to combine their abstract talents after their respective band’s Primus and The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger completed a successful tour together last year. Their efforts have spawned the upcoming full-length release Monolith of Phobos, released on 3rd June. Taking listeners on a stimulating psychedelic journey through the cosmos, the album is available for pre-order now.

“Sean is a musical mutant after my own heart,” said Claypool. “He definitely reflects his genetics - not just the sensibilities of his dad, but also the abstract perspective and unique approach of his mother.  It makes for a glorious freak stew.” Over the course of six weeks or so, the two wrote and recorded a total of ten songs with both of them sharing various vocal and instrumental responsibilities, going beyond their core instruments of bass and guitar.

TEMPER TRAP – FALL TOGETHER (Liberation Music)

ARIA Award winners and multi-platinum chart-toppers The Temper Trap have announced that their highly anticipated third album Thick As Thieves will be released internationally on June 10.  The long awaited news coincides with the release of new single ‘Fall Together’, available to download and stream now.

Set to become a festival classic, ‘Fall Together’ showcases the soaring vocals and anthemic layering that first saw the band launched to international stardom in 2009 off the back of the 2 million+ selling smash hit ‘Sweet Disposition’.

DONNY LOVE – HEY YOU (Strange Yonder)

Since their Sultry Visions EP release last December, and the addition of new guitarist Joel Van Rooyen, Gold Coast rockers Donny Love have come back with a surfy pop tune ‘Hey You’. With their support for international bands such as The Oh Sees, The Growlers and Homeshake, the boys have been dramatically improving their sound, whilst still incorporating their usual garage pop sounds that we all know and love.

MAIDS – GIRL POWER (Habit Music)

The track finds MAIDS continue steadily on their path of pop convention destruction, combining elements of metal, doom, 60’s rock and Katy Perry inspired melodies. Written, recorded and mixed by drummer/lead vocalist Sean Cook, the song is a tongue in cheek statement about misogyny in pop culture, with a serious message amongst the trademark down-tuned riffs the band is renowned for.

MIADS will be coming to sunny QLD this weekend!

April 22nd | Miami Shark Bar, GOLD COAST
April 23rd | The Milk Factory, BRISBANE
