New music for you ears! Tigertown, Wax Witches, Mary Handsome, Le Pie, and more
LE PIE - Up all Night (Palmary)

From its thumping bass intro, pounding percussion, Albert Hammond Jr style guitars, and majestic melodies - all capped off with a huge crescendo, it’s obvious that 'Up All Night' is the perfect soundtrack to kicking off your heels and twisting your way onto the dance floor in the style of classic indie pop gems like Camera Obscura's 'If Looks Could Kill' and Phoenix's 'Lisztomania.'

MARY HANDSOME - Banksia (White Label)

Local rapscallions Mary Handsome are evidence of a Brisbane music community bursting at the seams with fresh new creative sounds upon the release of their eponymous debut EP.

'Mary Handsome' houses an undeniably tight collection of lively, guitar-driven, and all-round compellingly groovy songs. Playful, skittering guitars on lead single 'Banksia' provide the perfect soundtrack to a carefree summer’s day. The track flits from influence to influence without resting squarely on anything; from the chiming riffs of the 90's, the pleasantly-wailed vocals of early-2000's pop punk to the merry nostalgia of modern-day indie rock. And ultimately, that’s what sets Mary Handsome apart: this kind of cross-genre innovation is sure to cement them as a band to watch very carefully this year.

WAX WITCHES - Habit (Burger Records)

"Habit" is the frenzied new 2016 single from Wax Witches, the alter-ego of Brooklyn via the Gold Coast expat Alex Wall. It's available online now and is the first taste of his new album "Memory Painting", released worldwide via Burger Records on 18th March.
"Memory Painting" is the third album in four years by Wax Witches, the project that originally began as a solo spin-off from Wall's first band, the good-time Australian garage-pop duo Bleeding Knees Club. Once again completely written, performed and recorded by Wall, the record was mastered in Detroit by Jim Kissling (King Tuff) and drops via Burger Records (home to key early releases by The Black Lips, Ty Segall and OFF!).

KING CHARLES - Choke (Kobalt Label Services)

London-based artist King Charles is making more impact on the world of folk pop with his latest single, the heart rendering ballad ‘Choke’. The third single from his upcoming album, the Marcus Mumford co-produced ‘Gamble for a Rose’, is another exploration of the character that is dramatically transformed from the person who released debut album Loveblood in 2012. ‘Gamble for a Rose’ is set for release on the 22nd of January 2016 throughBuffalo Gang via Kobalt Label Services.

THE DEAD LOVE - Wastelands (Evergreen Artists)

Sydney based Grunge Power-Pop outfit The Dead Love have just announced the release of their latestbanger ‘Wastelands’, which is taken from their forthcoming sophomore album. ‘Wastelands’ displays a brand new dynamic for The Dead Love, highlighting their signature 90’s Grunge sound. The single was self-produced by the band in true DIY style and encapsulates a new sonic direction for the band.

Whilst developing a reputation as one of Sydney’s most impressive, no-nonsense live outfits, The Dead Love have shared stages locally and abroad with the likes of Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, Everclear, British India, Aerosmith, Kingswood, The Delta Riggs, Born Lion, Calling All Cars, Closure In Moscow, Van Halen, Luca Brasi and The Love Junkies, just to name a diverse few.

HAELOS - Oracle (Matadore Records)

London-based trio HÆLOS have announced the release of their debut album Full Circle – due out via Matador / Remote Control on Friday 18th March.
First introduced in early 2015 with debut track ‘Dust’, HÆLOS (Arthur Delaney, Dom Goldsmith and Lotti Benardout) spent 2015 in their studio writing and producing their debut album. The result is ‘Full Circle’ – a darkly shaded yet ultimately radiant 11 track record that perfectly encapsulates the band’s philosophy.
