New music for your ears including King Gizzard, Von Villians, Greys, Aquila Young, FKA twigs, Homeshake & more!
AQUILA YOUNG – VAGABOND (INDEPENDENT)

A brazen world of isolated mystique and curiosity surrounds the artist known as Aquila Young. Her influence exudes warmth and charisma that is both fearless and fearsome. An unwavering charm artfully provoking the senses. Igniting the flame, playing with fire.

By simply observing the world around her, Aquila Young instinctively translates both the tangible and intangible into sound. She delivers an electric flair that merges an array of sounds, creating the unique motions of soul and song, an ode to the dreamscape.
GREYS – FLY NEAR MY DEAR (STRANGE YONDER)

Local production duo Greys have today released their third and final single 'Fly Near My Dear' from the forthcoming, Debut LP, “Lyre”. The synthesised, post-punkian, electronically fuelled record boasts ten years of collaboration from members Mark Duckworth and Morris Lauga.
VON VILLAINS – ALONE (INDEPENDENT)

Von Villains pack out a sweaty dance floor and had girls and boys alike swooning over their entire set. As they broke into their latest, ‘5 Minutes’ the crowd was transported to a parallel universe where punk is very much alive. Crisp and new, this juicy new track is reminiscent of post Y2K punk rockers The Strokes but with much more sass and tonnes more flavour.
KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD – PAPER MÂCHÈ DREAM BALLOON (FLIGHTLESS / REMOTE CONTROL)

Initially the band thought “Paper Mâché Dream Balloon” was going to be filled with the darker, heavier material that the band has been playing live of late. But front man Stu Mackenzie soon decided that it was time to put aside the longer, more conceptual pieces and go in a completely new direction.

On previous records King Gizz has channeled many different sounds: From heavily distorted, kraut-driven rock on their 2014 album I’m In Your Mind Fuzz to expansive, almost jazzy, Dead-like head trips on Quarters! Or as Mackenzie puts it, “I always wanted to be a band where you would expect the unexpected each time, with each album being treated like a different phase.”
GIRL BAND – PAUL

Recalling any number of things but for only milliseconds at a time, Girl Band make a mockery of comparisons, because you can only get as far as “oh this bit sounds like—” before a guitar scuff-screams, the bass crunches like a car in a bailing press, or something else visceral and glorious comes from the speakers, and the thought’s erased. This young Dublin foursome are creating vital, propulsive, and almost terrifyingly energetic noise-rock that pulls as much influence from classic techno as from their more obvious post-punk, noise and industrial predecessors.
HOMESHAKE – FADED (STRANGE YONDER)

“Midnight Snack” was recorded this past summer with Jackson MacIntosh at the Drones Club in Montreal. Musically this time around Sagar trades in his guitar for synthesizers and a drum machine, developing vocal arrangements from loops he created for his solo set. He pulled influence from house pioneers like Chip E and Mr. Fingers as well as Japanese pop starlets like Chiemi Manabe, slowing down the tempo with his own homemade drowsiness. The resulting collection is an eclectic tangle of personal anecdotes steeped in an everlasting reverence of D’Angelo.
ECCA VANDAL – FATHER HU$$LA (DEW PROCESS)

An anthemic discussion about being young, and thinking you know everything about your family, but as you grow, realising you never really knew them at all. Produced by Ecca Vandal & Kidnot, Co-Produced and mixed by Hadyn Buxton, Father Hu$$la follows  her pervasive debut single ‘White Flag’ (2014), and the equally fierce ‘Battle Royal’ (2015), cementing Ecca Vandal as a creative force to be reckoned with.
FASCINATOR – DEAD OF THE NIGHT (SPINNING TOP)

Inspired by a musical skit by comedian Matt Berry, the track searches for darkness in a contrived electronic landscape. At once brooding and blitzed out, Fascinator combines the sleaziest synths with effervescent chimes and effortless vocals. Naturally, theatrical violin chords also feature for that extra drama.

Caught somewhere in the middle of kaleidoscope American psychedelia, obnoxiously kitsch Australiana and colourful postmodernity, the video is an amalgamation of elements that are so wrong, they’re right. Wholly capturing the versatile character that is Fascinator, the memorable video is a feast for the eyes and ultimately gives rise to the question – genius or madman?
FKA TWIGS – IN TIME (YOUNG TURKS)

“M3LL155X” is a continuation of the holistic creative process FKA twigs has undertaken on each of her previous EP releases (‘EP1’ and ‘EP2’), with videos forming an integral part of the release. However, M3LL155X is more ambitious than ever and, in terms of concept, scope and execution, is undoubtedly FKA twigs’ most complete work to date.
