IVEY – SMELL OF SMOKE (INDEPENDENT)

They say nothing is sweeter than young love and new single, ‘Smell of Smoke’ from Gold Coast indie outfit IVEY evokes the senses through hypnotic vocals and lyrics that truly create nostalgic imagery of ones first experience with love.

Recorded and produced by George Carpenter (WaxHead, Donny Love and Salvadarlings), “Smell of Smoke” builds slowly with its simplistic yet intricate movements. Birthed after an emotional break up it doesn’t rely on anything more than it’s honest lyrical and vocal delivery matched with IVEY’s the up beat tropical pop sensibilities reminiscent of contempories San Cisco, Hungry Kids of Hungry and Monsters of Men.
NATE HARMER – TIME (PROD. TVNXMI) (INDEPENDENT)

"Take some time out to sit back and actually listen/vibe to this whole mixtape! All i ask is that everyone who is supporting the music and mixtape please, please share this mixtape/post around or tag some people you think will vibe with it! it aint easy to get stuff seen nowadays so I'm putting it in your hands.. show some love"
ELECTRIK LEMONADE – RUN AND HIDE (INDEPENDENT)

With a bass heavy backdrop of soul, a staple of the band's signature sound, strung together with infectious horn lines broken down with hip-hop verses ‘Run And Hide’ is the soulful harmony layered single from Electrik Lemonade's upcoming and highly anticipated EP.

“Run And Hide” follows story of a protagonist that acts out in the heat of the moment and is then plagued with the guilt of the act and with the fear of being caught. It’s an analogy for mistakes made in life in the heat of the moment and the long, burning regret that follows you." The band experimented with unique recording techniques with this new single taking the original drum recordings to a huge warehouse and re recording them through a PA for a more distorted effect. – Barney (MC)
POSTBLUE – GLOW LIKE CRAZY (INDEPENDENT)

As the great (albeit fictional) Don Draper once said, nostalgia is "a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone". Safe to say that any music that can evoke this pervasive state of being is worth putting on high rotation in your library. Safe to say Postblue have nailed it with 'Glow Like Crazy', their alt-pop earworm of a brand new single.
SLOWCOACH – IN LIMBO (INDEPENDENT)

A few months back we were introduced to ‘Beneath The Board’, a warm, charming debut single by Melbourne act Slowcoach. ‘Beneath The Board’ got the hype-ball rolling and got people wondering if it'll be topped or whether Slowcoach will forever be known as, "that dude that released that pretty good song a while ago and was never heard again".

Well the wait is over, with the Melbournian, real name Dean Valentino, dropping the single's official bside ‘In Limbo’. In Limbo picks up from where ‘Beneath The Board’ kicked off, with Valentino's smooth lyrical work, ripping guitar licks and all-round good vibes featuring strong in his second single, once again begging the comparison to an up-beat War On Drugs.
DEERHUNTER – BREAKER (4AD / REMOTE CONTROL)

‘Breaker’ finds two of Deerhunter’s founding members, Bradford Cox and Lockett Pundt, sharing vocal duties in their first ever duet. The track follows the premiere of the intoxicating garage funk of ‘Snakeskin’ last month.
GYPSY AND THE CAT – EVOLUTION (FEAT. CLIENT LIAISON) (INDEPENDENT)

“Hearts A Gun” EP starts with a contradictory happy / sad title track that whips around the issue of love, gets its rave on with 'Red Wine and Cigarettes', sails into a yacht rock nirvana on collaborative track with Client Liaison 'Evolution', shows a moment of lustful whimsy with 'Wasted Days', then celebrates the harmonies of brothers Gibb on 'Fire' before taking the listener back to dance deliriously on 'Sunday'.
FAT FREDDY’S DROP – RAZOR (THE DROP / REMOTE CONTROL)

Fat Freddy’s Drop’s beatmaster DJ Fitchie said about the track, "There's no fucking around on this one. Blaze is on fire...he's on a synthesiser treadmill, struggling to stay in control at times but in the end provides the perfect backdrop for Dukie's angst-ridden words".
