New music for your ears! Hedge Fund, Anna of the North, FEWS & More
THE CHAINSMOKERS – DON'T LET ME DOWN FT DAYA (Sony Music Australia)

The Chainsmokers return with their follow-up single to their Official ARIA & iTunes TOP 5 single smash ‘ROSES’ (PLATINUM). Already focused on their next global smash, the NYC duo’s new single, 'DON’T LET ME DOWN’ features 17 year old singer sensation DAYA – already celebrating her own success with debut single ‘Hide Away’ (currently a Gold Top ARIA 10 Single)

ECCA VANDAL – TRUTH TO TRADE (Dew Process)

Coming in at just under three blistering minutes, ‘Truth To Trade’ is Vandal at her explosive best, tapping into the raw punk rock energy that feeds so much of her eclectic sound.

Ecca Vandal says of the track “I was reading the graphic novel 'V for Vendetta' around the time I was writing this track. It all started with the pretty twisted beat at the beginning of the track, which got me dancing around the studio pretty much immediately. Kidnot and I shaped up the beat a little more together and then tracked guitars in the same day. Sonically there was a particular mood that linked back to the book I was reading so there is a loose tie between the lyrical concept of Truth To Trade and V for Vendetta.”

THE WAR ON DRUGS – TOUCH OF GREY (Remote Control Records)

4AD / Remote Control Records
are pleased to announce the release of Day Of The Dead, a celebration of the Grateful Dead’s music created and curated by brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessnerof The National.

The five songs shared today include the first new music from The War on Drugs since 2014’s critically-acclaimed Lost In The Dream with a cover of the Grateful Dead’s 1987 hit ‘Touch of Grey’. Phosphorescent and Jenny Lewis combine with the backing of the in-house band (featuring 4/5 of the National) that contributed to numerous recordings on the compilation, to cover 1971’s ‘Sugaree'. Former Grateful Dead member Bruce Hornsby collaborates with Justin Vernon and DeYarmond Edison. Courtney Barnett puts her characteristic slant on ‘New Speedway Boogie’, off the back of numerous accolades for 2015’s GRAMMY-nominated album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit.  For today’s final taste of the full album, The National cover Bonnie Dobson's ‘Morning Dew’, a Grateful Dead staple since 1967, one of two songs that they contributed to the compilation.

DMA’s – IN THE MOMENT (I OH YOU)

‘In The Moment is the next single to be pulled from DMA’S critically acclaimed debut album Hills End. Featuring all the indie swagger and pop sensibilities that the band have become so well known and loved for, ‘In The Moment’ sees the three friends from Newtown in their element and Tommy O’Dell’s voice guides the listener on a journey of melodies that climb and fall throughout the song. Currently hitting up the USA for a run of shows including a much coveted slot at Coachella, DMA’S will return to Australia at the end of May for their massive national

ANNA OF THE NORTH – BABY (Different Recordings)

'Baby' is the brand new single from Anna Of The North. Anna Of The North is a collaborative project between Anna Lotterud, with her Scandinavian vocal sound, combined with electronic melodies from New Zealand-born producer Brady Daniell-Smith. The two met while studying in Melbourne, but have since relocated to Anna's native Norway.

Her debut single, ‘Sway’ was released on US imprint Honeymoon records and received much critical acclaim over the internet. ‘The Dreamer’ came in late 2015 and premiered on Pigeons and Planes, picking up considerable airplay in her home country of Norway, and in other parts of  Europe. The single has racked up an impressive 3 million streams to date.

She is about to embark on a EU arena tour supporting KYGO.

THE HIGH LEARYS - CABINET ( A&R Department)

The High Leary
are a four piece inspired rock band from Perth, Western Australia consisting of Jamie Turner (lead vocals/bass), Michael Nutt (keys/vocals), Matt Williams (guitar) and Mitchell J Benson (drums). Forming in 2011, they have released one album, and a number of singles. You might know them from their tracks 'Clear My Mind' and 'Letters to Alice'. The making of new single, “Cabinet”, was the first time the band had ventured into recording entirely by themselves. Produced and engineered by the band’s keyboard player Mike Nutt and recorded over the summer of early 2015 at various houses and studios. The finishing touches where added at Blackbird Studios with Dave Parkin.

FEWS - 100 GOOSEBUMPS (Play It Again Sam)

The Swedish / US quartet have been swift in getting things off the ground; 2016 has already seen a series of rapturously received live shows. Intermingled with their own live shows, the band have also accompanied the likes of Fat White Family and Money in Europe whilst the UK has seen them traversing the country as guests for Bloc Party and the recent sold out Spring King tour.

‘100 Goosebumps’ reveals another side to this multi-national four-piece, a swath of pulsating guitar backed with a metronomic backbeat, almost three minutes of perfect symmetry that has already proven to be a live highlight and destined to be a festival favourite this summer….

HEDGE FUND – SUMMERS GETTING SHORTER (Rare Finds)

Following the release of Hedge Fund’s thumping post-punk psychedelia inspired new tune‘Summer’s Getting Shorter’, the band have unveiled the song’s accompanying music video.

Colvin describes the clip –
“When you see a video like this, it would be easy to think, 'I'm watching a grown man in what seems to be a Versace print safari-suit, with smokey eyes, contoured cheeks and red lipstick, dancing like my uncle doing an impression of Mick Jagger, in an abandoned car park at seven o'clock in the morning... why?' Honestly, I don't know the answer to that question. But I do know that it's certainly a lot of fun to watch."

The band will act as main support to indie-rock favourites British India this week, sharing the stage with them in Windsor, Mona Vale and Miranda, before embarking on their own seven date tour of the East Coast performing in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Lismore, Toowoomba and Brisbane.
