New music for your ears including Big Scary, Wavves, Flyying Colours, Empress Of, Say Hi, Kurt Vile & more!
EMPRESS OF – KITTY KAT (TERRIBLE / REMOTE CONTROL)

New track titled 'Kitty Kat' is available to stream via lyric video containing postcards of photos taken during the recording session for Me in Valle de Bravo and Montreal. The song was inspired by her experiences of being cat called around Valle de Bravo, Mexico City, while on a solo 5-week writing retreat, and the emotions evoked by the act.
WAVVES – WAY TOO MUCH (POD / GHOST RAMP)

Wavves is back to announce their fifth studio album which is appropriately titled “V”. Produced by Woody Jackson, “V” is more of full-band effort with Stephen Pope and Alex Gates sharing writing duties with Wavves-frontman Nathan Williams.
WEST THEBARTON BROTHEL PARTY – BILLIONS (MIRADOR)

Drawing inspiration from Bass Drum of Death, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall to Aussie heroes Eddy Current Suppression Ring, the band combines a fuzz heavy four-pronged guitar attack with a rumbling three-part rhythm section to deliver cathartic and chaotic garage rock. It’s wildly stapled together båy the bourbon-soaked lyricism and humorous reflections of Ray Dalfsen who explores bad impressions, high school pricks and the clinical hatred of sound.
KURT VILE – PRETTY PIMPIN’ (MATADOR / REMOTE CONTROL)

“Kurt does his own myth-making; a boy/man with an old soul voice in the age of digital everything becoming something else, which is why this focused, brilliantly clear and seemingly candid record is a breath of fresh air. Recorded and mixed in a number of locations, including Los Angeles and Joshua tree, b’lieve i'm goin down… is a handshake across the country, east to west coast, thru the dustbowl history (“valley of ashes”) of woody honest strait forward talk Guthrie, and a cali canyon dead still nite floating in a nearly waterless landscape. The record is all air, weightless, bodyless, but grounded in convincing authenticity, in the best version of a singer songwriter upcycling.” – Kim Gordon
SAY HI – THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER (BARSUK)

In 2006, when Eric Elbogen’s one-man band was still known as Say Hi To Your Mom, the Seattle musician released a wonderful little record called “Impeccable Blahs”. Now Elbogen is dusting off that motif for his latest album as Say Hi. As evidenced on latest single, ‘The Grass Is Always Greener,’ “Bleeder’s Digest” maintains Elbogen’s singular sound, matching smart, concise guitar and synth figures with tight grooves and understated vocals that hit like decrepit lullabies.
BIG SCARY – ORGANISM (PIEATER)

Big Scary have spent focused time working on new material for their upcoming album and are currently putting the finishing touches on what is set to be another forward-thinking journey into one of the most inventive and challenging pop acts in recent years.

As front man/producer Tom Iansek said of the song, “It’s moving back towards Jo and I as a band and the dynamic between us. It’s refocusing on the duo. With this has come a lot of stripping back of the non-essential, using less to create more. Using new and unfamiliar textures but keeping the performance firmly grounded in that of two people playing.”
FLYYING COLOURS – RUNNING LATE (UNIVERSAL)

Melbourne-based psych-shoegazers Flyying Colours return with a second EP of psychedelic pop textures and pounding beats tempered with sugar-rush melodies.

On ‘Running Late’ guitars overlap, playing seemingly different melodies and rhythms, as the vocals float up from the ether of the background. Hearkening back to the 80s but also at once sounding thoroughly futuristic with the finely-textured guitar loops and lo-fi delay used to stunning effect throughout.
