Its a cold Tuesday here on the Gold Coast and this weeks tunes feature more on the smooth, dreaming vibe with new tracks from our very own San Mei, HAIM, The Ocean Party & More. And if your back at uni like a lot of us and feel like sticking it to the man we have Tiny Little Houses 'Garbage Bin'.  Enjoy!
HAIM - 'LITTLE OF YOUR LOVE' (Universal Music Australia)

HAIM release new song, ‘Little Of Your Love,’ from their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Something To Tell You” (July 7 on Polydor Records). The new song premiered as Radio 1’s ‘Hottest Record’ and HAIM also performed the track last month on Saturday Night Live. Paste magazine have proclaimed the song as “absolutely infectious”.

HAIM will bring their energetic and exciting live performance back to the Australia this July, playing a sold out show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre before headlining Splendour In The Grass on Friday the 21st. They will then return to Sydney for two solid days of promo.
CUT COPY - 'AIRBORNE' (EMI Music Australia)

Cut Copy returns with “Airborne” – the band’s first official single in four years, produced by Ben Allen (Deerhunter, Animal Collective).  Equal parts guitar jangle, celestial synths and bottom-heavy bassline, the infectious track shifts gears multiple times, balancing images of chaos (“jagged teeth made of glass, rising up”) with the resolute chorus: “That don’t stop me.” The song offers an early glimpse of the new material the ARIA winning band has been recording in studios around the world.

SAN MEI - NECESSARY (LXVI Records)

San Mei shares the stunning title-track from her forthcoming debut EP, 'Necessary'. Following the success of previous single releases, 'Rewind', and 'Until You Feel Good', a music video and an east coast tour, the Gold Coast multi-instrumentalist is has been gathering some serious momentum.

'Necessary' takes San Mei's electric vocals and sculpts them into harmonic arrangements, layered against fuzzy guitar riffs. The track grooves its way into a soaring alt-rock ballad of eclectic instrumental arrangements and enchanting vocal orchestration. The track revolves lyrical around the need to treat those around you with kindness - in San Mei's own words: 'Everyone has stuff going on - happy, sad, trying. The song is about acknowledging that and just trying to be good to other people, because you don't know always know where they're at.'

The E.P comes out July 14th

THE OCEAN PARTY - 'MORE TO RUN' (Spunk Records)

Melbourne-by-Wagga-Wagga six-piece, The Ocean Party are pleased to announce the release of their seventh album, Beauty Point, out August 18 on Spunk Records. The band have release a new clip to new single 'More To Run'. The band have also announced an extensive Australian tour, hitting Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Alice Springs and everywhere in between. "More To Run" follows on from, "Quality Control" and is something of a secular hymn for the modern age. As a musing on feelings of isolation and nihilism, the track deals with the frustrations of yearning for more in an already over-saturated society and features label mate, Emma Russack, as well as, Becky Sui Zhen (Sui Zhen, No Zu) and Ashley Bundang (Totally Mild, Ciggie Witch) on backing vocals.

THE BLACK SEEDS - 'FREAKIN' (Remote Control Records)

South Pacific reggae-soul legends The Black Seeds have debuted new single 'Freakin.' The band’s funkiest offering to date, 'Freakin' is a disco-inspired dance floor filler that gets down with 808 drums, bouncy synths and a beat to strut to.

“Freakin is one for the end of the week, end of the line, letting loose. Shaking it off.” says band leader Barnaby Weir. “It is the party pick me up track on the album with lyrics to match”

It doesn’t matter if you’re freakin’.. If this day is not the weekend. it’s a special kind of feeling, when you live just like you’re winning.

The band will be releasing their new album 'Fabric" out September 7th.
TINY LITTLE HOUSES - 'GARBAGE BIN' (Ivy League Records)

Tiny Little Houses return with new single ‘Garbage Bin’, a track that will surely be an anthem for the new slacker generation.Written while lead singer Caleb Karvountzis was in the midst of final assessment hell and contemplating ditching another degree, the song chronicles the journeys and failures of being twenty something, broke and not meeting your own expectations.

“I went over to my friend Fergus Miller’s place and showed it to him. We arranged and demoed the track, right there and then in his make-shift lounge studio
Tragically Ferg passed away a few short weeks later so it remained unfinished.
“We were fortunate enough to get our hands on the original files and finish the track off in studio with Steven Schram while working on our album earlier this year. The band made sure to keep the essence of the original recording, leaving in Ferg’s parts on this released version, while adding necessary touches and changing a few lyrics to reflect the sad circumstances.” Says Caleb of the track

DESERT MOONS - 'ROUGH TRADE'  (A & M Records)

NSW Central Coast-based indie-electronic duo, Desert Moons (Brothers Jake & Simon Dobson), have just revealed their self-produced debut single ‘Rough Trade’ - recorded at their home studio. Combining beautifully crafted organic and electronic instrumentation, ‘Rough Trade’ is a stunning eclectic piece of experimental-electronica that melds themes of dark dream-pop, indie-rock and hip-hop; taking cues from the likes of their staple influences Radiohead, M83 and Daniel Johns.
Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jake Dobson describes the creative process behind ‘Rough Trade’ –
“This track was originally an idea of Simon’s conceived in our home studio. We sent it back and forth to each other over a period of a week, until it became what you hear today. We had a lot of fun with this song. We tend to always produce our favourite works when we’re evenly collaborating. The lyrical theme is an ode to my past struggles with motivation. Writing songs has always been an incredibly therapeutic process and this was certainly no different; ultimately serving as a catharsis.”

GHOSTPOET - 'FREAKSHOW' (PIAS Recordings)

Following the announcement of his fourth album Dark Days + Canapés, due to launch on Friday August 18, and the unveiling of the debut track “Immigrant Boogie”, Ghostpoet - Obaro Ejimiwe - is pleased to announce details of a brand single, “Freakshow”, and its accompanying video. Brooding post-punk guitar lines provide the menacing landscape for provocative lyrics that create one of many standout moments on the album. The video is the second in a dystopian series directed by Zhang + Knight. It depicts a nightmarish pre-apocalyptic world, in which pleasure seekers and average humans alike search for relief from their synthetic reality.

Says Ejimiwe of the track: “'Freakshow' is a kind of commentary on modern consumerism - it sums up my general sense of unease in the way we buy our emotions these days, and the unstoppable cash-driven churn we seem to be caught up in as a society.
