It's that time of the week again for our New Releases! Heaps of gooooooood stuff from Skegss, Mild High Club, The Jim Mitchells and loads more.

SKEGSS - MUSTANG (Ratbag Records)

They are also excited to present ‘Mustang’ – the latest single taken from their sophomore EP Everyone Is Good At Something, out now via Ratbag Records. ‘Mustang’ is an ode to singer Ben Ben Bograil’s Mustang and Telecaster guitars and is 3 foot-stomping minutes of the bright and posi punk the DIY, beer-drinking and self-producing maniacs from the surf coast are making themselves known for. The second single from the Everyone Is Good At Something EP, it follows ‘My Face’, the new track which Pilerats noted that “even though we've just barely stepped into winter, this one will make you feel like it's 32 degrees outside.” You can ask anyone – the best part of releasing new music is being able to play it live. With supports from Verge Collection and Dumb Punts, this will be their first national tour since their summer 2015 sold out run and your only chance to see SKEGSS live until the summer.

THE JIM MITCHELLS - YOU UNFOLLOW ME (Third Eye Stimuli)

Sydney’s favourite new psych-rock band The Jim Mitchells have announced their first interstate tour in support of their second single 'You Unfollow Me' from their forthcoming EP, ‘Planet Absorbed’. Following the warm reception of debut single ‘Planet Absorbed’, including nods from Rolling Stone Australia, their second single and video, due for release on the 28th of June, further encapsulates the persona and energetic style of the band’s mastermind- Jim Mitchell. Recorded at home by Mitchell and guitarist Richard Snowden, ‘You Unfollow Me’ presents a thumping rhythmic section wrapped in sparkling guitar hooks and vocal expressions akin to that of Bradford Cox or Nick Allbrook circa (Allbrook/Avery) Big ‘Art era.

MILD HIGH CLUB - SKIPTRACING (Stone Throw Records)

Mild High Club have released the title track off their forthcoming album “Skiptracing”. Their second full-length album, Skiptracing is out August 26 on Stones Throw Recordsvia Inertia Music; a follow up to last year’s Timeline. When listening to “Skiptracing” you can’t help but conjure up images of psychedelic, day-dreaming visuals and rightly so. The glorious song takes you out of this world and brings you back to Earth after topping the track off with a slinky guitar solo. Put this track on, rug up and dream of the sun-kiss filled days to come.

GROUPLOVE - WELCOME TO YOUR LIFE (Atlantic Records)

Three years after their indie fave album ‘Spreading Rumours,’ the Californian five piece return with the first single off their forthcoming third album entitled Big Mess, due on September 9. Welcome To Your Life is that trademark Grouplove mix of big vocals, catchy choruses, stadium-filling guitars and  bright synths.
With a bassline described by triple j’s Matt and Alex as ‘heart attack inducing,’ Welcome To Your Life was prominently featured on the band’s album sampler visualiser, which also announced their world tour in June. Landing in Australia in August, we will be one of the first countries in the world to  experience ‘Big Mess’ live. Grouplove have had great success in Australia, with 2013 single ‘Ways To Go’ reaching #33 in the 2013 Hottest 100 countdown, as well as 2012 single Tongue Tied now certified Gold and landed the #16 spot in the 2012 Hottest 100, with ‘Itchin On A Photograph reaching #43 in the Hottest 100 of the same year.

THE WINTER GYPSY - TOOK ME BY (Independent)

Adelaide group The Winter Gypsy have just dished up a delicious portion of alt-folk majesty, garnished with one of our favourite clips in recent memory. The video for their new single ‘Took Me By’ is simple concept beautifully executed, a slow-motion trawl through a variety of characters acting out their own bite-sized scenes as the band lay down a soundtrack that trickles and echoes like an underground stream. ‘Took Me By’ will be out on July 7, with the Page I EP out on August 5, and The Winter Gypsy will be playing the following dates this year, tickets on the door:
Sun 28 Aug – Bar Open, Fitzroy, Melbourne (18+)
Sun 4 Sep – The Jade, Adelaide (AA)
Thur 8 Sep – Playbar, Surry Hills, Sydney (18+)

LOST ANIMAL - DO THE JERK (Remote Control Records)

Today Lost Animal shares his first new music in quite some time in the form of 'Do The Jerk' lifted from his forthcoming LP You Yang, which will be released in September 2016 via Dot Dash / Captured Tracksin North America and Dot Dash / Remote Control Records for the rest of the world. Quarrel started workin the game at the age of sixteen.  You can hear it in his songs.  They carry with them the weightless baggage of a path struggled long - heavy not with possessions, instead with experience and thick skin - his long, black-grey hair sits up on his shoulders like Merino wool.

SILENT JAY AND JACE XL - TIDES (Plastic World)

The single, delivered by Melbourne-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Silent Jay and vocalist Jace XL(Hiatus Kaiyote), captures the distinct combination of innovative production and honest and authentic poetry the pair are becoming so increasingly renowned for. Silent Jay & Jace XL join a long list of some of the most forward-thinking local artists featured on Volume 1. From pop tracks to funk soul to ambient house, the compilation features another 12 unreleased tracks including songs from Sampa The Great, Mondo Freaks and Tim Shiel that represent every corner of the burgeoning underground electronic music scene of Australia.

RAT BOY - GET OVER IT (Ratbag Records)
Fresh from a stellar opening performance at Glastonbury, RAT BOY begins a new chapter in his amalgamated style of hip-hop and indie punk with the brand new track ‘Get Over It’, the title-track from his forthcoming EP. Awarded NME’s Best New Artist of 2016, the 20-year-old Essex-native is making waves with his unique sound and DIY attitude having created an immersive world that unites music, visual style and art. Set to a backdrop of a 70s bossa nova groove, ‘Get Over It’ finds RAT BOY’s characteristic Essex-toned raps rallying against the system. It’s a track that demonstrates the next stage in the continuing evolution of his sound, and follows the boisterous last single ‘Move’ which was added to rotation on FBi Radio an spun on triple j.
