Happy Tuesday and Happy New Releases Day! After being tucked away with the floods it gave us heaps of time to sift through the best new releases this week, so sit back and have a little listen of the ever so brilliant pile of new tracks, yeah yeahhhhh! New material from Alt J, Magic Bones, Idiio and loads more!

ALT J - 'IN COLD BLOOD' (Liberator Music/Infectious Music)

“We started writing ‘In Cold Blood’ in our Leeds days and finished it last year in London,” say the band. “The brass was recorded at Abbey Road; the keyboards were done on a Casiotone that cost £1.05 on eBay; and no-one is quite sure where the key change came from.”

‘In Cold Blood’ follows the acclaimed ‘3WW’ as the second song to be lifted from their forthcoming third album RELAXER, which will now be released on 2 June, on heavyweight vinyl, CD, and digitally. The record is the follow up to their UK #1, Grammy and Brit Award-nominated album This Is All Yours, and was recorded all over London – from Shoreditch to St John’s Wood, Crouch Hill to Brixton – with producer Charlie Andrew for a third time.

MAJOR LEAGUES - 'IT WAS ALWAYS YOU' (Popfrenzy/ Caroline)

Produced by acclaimed Australian artist Jonathan Boulet, the single is the first taste of the band’s forthcoming debut album out mid-year via Popfrenzy. The single will be supported by intimate live dates in Brisbane and Sydney this April.

Over 2013’s ‘Weird Season’ EP and 2016’s ‘Dream States’ EP, Major Leagues have become synonymous with their unique brand of DIY pop characterised by stunning vocal harmonies, crisp lo-fi production and nostalgic undertones.  Singles such as ‘Endless Drain’, ‘Someone Sometime’, ‘Better Off’ and ‘Teen Mums’ have been championed by radio stations such triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi 94.5FM, Triple R, RTRFM and 4ZZZ. ‘Silver Tides’ also caught the attention of iconic indie rock outfit The National who featured the song on their ‘Infinity Radio’ playlist.

SAN CISCO - 'HEY DID I DO YOU WRONG' ' (Island City Records)

“Hey, Did I Do You Wrong?” is a laid back, highly infectious track which invokes summer afternoons by the beach in the four-piece’s home town of Fremantle.

Perfect for road trip singalongs, singer Jordi ponders a topic that everyone can relate to – the dissolution of a close friendship. Is it him or have they grown apart? The accompanying video, created by friend and local legend, Matsu, gives an insight into home, recording and touring life with the band.

‘Hey, Did I Do You Wrong?” is available globally now. A national tour will be announced later today, with tickets and album pre-orders available on Friday 7th April.

SAFIA - 'GO TO WASTE' (Parlaphone)

To accompany the news, SAFIA reveal the next cut from Internal, ‘Go To Waste’, a raw, emotional track which provides Internal with its most introspective moment. With its cinematic backdrop and emotive delivery, the track connects with audiences at each live outing. The track is reflected in visuals by renowned creatives Toby and Pete who have worked with likes of Flume and Flight Facilities.

GRENADIERS - 'SUBURBAN LIFE' (Independent)

Taken from new recordings for what will become a third album from the three-piece, everything about this track is BIG. Driving guitars, relentless pace, that shout-along refrain. Frontman Jesse Coulter's whiskey and smokes growl is more incisive than ever. 'Suburban Life' rolls on, tongue firmly in cheek. Grenadiers are known for putting out some entertaining and hard-hitting clips, and this one for 'Suburban Life' is no different. The 90's inspired lo-fi video was filmed at Gillman Speedway in the badlands of suburban Adelaide.

IDIIO - 'ONE NIGHT' (Independent)

'One Night' is Idiio appearing as their most resolute to date. Distinctly haunting, the song cruises on neo-soul vibes before descending into some cleverly structured, yet weighty and solemn bass dips. Taking cues from contemporaries Sampha and Jarryd James, Idiio craft ingenious and sensual electronica.

Frontman Tyler Vivian said this about the track, "'One Night' is a calling from a higher energy that you are pouring your heart and soul into. You'd grow with that person being the blossomed flowers on the tree that represents you. But the higher energy gives you insight to be weary about who this person really is, under all the roses. Put trust in that consciousness, put trust in your gut feeling."

MAGIC BONES - 'HOTTER THAN THE SUN' (Independent)

Melbourne garage punk outfit Magic Bones are thrilled to announce their brand new single ‘Hotter Than The Sun’ taken from their forthcoming debut album due mid 2017. The band will also be touring the east coast throughout April in support of the single.

The album was recorded by band member Richard Bowers (Horror My Friend, The Harlots) and mixed by award-winning producer Steven Schram (San Cisco, Tiny Little Houses, Paul Kelly). Off the back of a successful Pozible campaign, the band will also release a limited edition 7” for ‘Hotter Than The Sun’ accompanied with a mystery cover song.

BAD PONY - 'DEFICIENCY' (Independent)

Straight out of Sydneys’ Inner West, Bad Pony return with their latest single Deficiency, With enough grit, grind and dance to send you into a tumble, Bad Pony have stayed true to their form of releasing quality tunes beyond their years. Deficiency sees the band travel down a new direction and whilst still incorporating the sound that has seen them become one of Sydney’s premiere acts, the track is an obvious journey of personal and musical growth.

“Deficiency is about being absorbed by the greedy, selfish nature of Sydney,” explains frontman Jarred Young. “We sat by my piano and arranged the tune from a bunch of voice memos recorded on Jarred’s phone” adds guitarist and kick-drummer, Sam Thomlinson. “It started out as a bit of a mix and match, but came together in the end. We wrote the bridge in a rehearsal session, in one of our ‘let's just play and see what happens’ moments. I produced the track at home, and recorded the drums with Jarred, then we sent it off to Cron (guitars and vocals) to be mixed and mastered.”
