Heaps of new material this week that'll make you extremely happy, I promise. Brand new tracks from The War On Drugs, Washed Out and Wet Lips to mention just a few, get your ears around this sweet little list of 8.

THE WAR ON DRUGS - HOLDING ON' (Atlantic Records)

The War On Drugs announce their fourth full-length album, A Deeper Understanding, out August 25th on Atlantic Records. A Deeper Understanding is the band’s first album since 2014’s universally acclaimed Lost In The Dream, and their debut album with Atlantic. Following the Record Store Day release of the 11-minute “Thinking of a Place,” The War On Drugs present the album’s lead single, “Holding On.”

Since the release of Lost In The Dream, The War On Drugs’ frontman, Adam Granduciel, led the charge for his Philadelphia-based sextet as he holed up in studios in New York and Los Angeles to write, record, edit, and tinker. Teaming up with engineer Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Weezer), Adam challenged the notion of what it means to create a fully realized piece of music in today’s modern landscape. Calling on his bandmates – bassist Dave Hartley, keyboarding Robbie Bennett, drummer Charlie Halland multi-instrumentalists Anthony LaMarca and Jon Natchez -- continuously throughout the process, the result is a “band record” in the noblest sense, featuring collaboration, coordination, and confidence at every turn.

WET LIPS - 'SEE YOU LATER' (Hysterical Records)

If there’s any hope for music as a force for social change, Wet Lips are at the front of the line. Since forming in 2012, they’ve been pillars of Australia’s surging feminist punk movement, rallying ferocious crowds to their shows (and annualfestival, Wetfest) with songs that punch up with devastating accuracy. Led by guitarist Grace Kindellan and bassist Jenny McKechnie and recorded with recently departed drummer Mohini Hillyer of HABITS, Wet Lips' self-titled debut is a mix of pub-rock guts and punk-rock sneer that charts the particular feeling of living in marginalised bodies, charging those bodies with the energy to kick back.

ARCADE FIRE - 'EVERYTHING NOW' (Sony Music Australia)

Having performed the song live for the first time at a surprise show in Barcelona on June 1st, Arcade Firehas now released ‘Everything Now’,  the title track from the band's fifth album due out on July 28th.

The new album is Arcade Fire’s first release under its new partnership with the global media and e-commerce platform Everything Now.

Everything Now was produced by Arcade Fire, Thomas Bangalter and Steve Mackey, with co-production by Markus Dravs.
The album was recorded at Boombox Studios in New Orleans, Sonovox Studios in Montreal, and Gang Recording Studio in Paris.

KITTY, DAISY & LEWIS - 'DOWN ON MY KNEES' (Sunday Best Recordings)

London-based siblings Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are pleased to unveil details of their forthcoming album, Superscope on Friday September 29 through Sunday Best Recordings via [PIAS] / Inertia Music.

Superscope continues to harness their ability to create pop-infused soul, blues, rock n roll and more, mixing up genres to perfection emerging with their musical armoury. The first fruits from the band’s studio sessions arrives in the shape of the single “Down On My Knees”, a high octane burst of infectious of glam-tinged  rock n roll,  an impressive introduction to the album.

HOLLOW EVERDAZE - 'CARTOONS' (Deaf Ambitions)

As forecast by the reverbed lushness of their breakthrough 2015 single ‘Last Laugh’, Hollow Everdaze’s long-time-coming debut album Cartoons is a stunning new statement for a band that’s been reimagining psychedelic pop from the start.

While deeply schooled in the classics – from the Rubber Soul balladry of ‘Still Ticking’, to the jaunty orchestral layering of ‘Running Away’ – the Western Victoria five-piece have arrived at something remarkably fresh.

Combining distorted guitar hooks and sighing strings with blissful electronics and heady jam-outs, these songs are sweetly catchy yet quietly adventurous. Surf-tinged British Invasion (‘Catastrophe’), pleading indie pop (‘Same Old Story’), and free-wheeling psych (‘Flat Battery’) all comingle beautifully, with every track housing vivid contrasts of glistening brightness and rainy-day gloom.

BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE -'HUG OF THUNDER' (Spunk Records)

Following up their triumphant return to music with "Halfway Home", Toronto's Broken Social Scene have now shared details of their first album in seven years, Hug Of Thunder, to be released via Spunk Records on July 7th. The band have also shared the muscular title track of the album, featuring vocals from the inimitable Leslie Feist.

Produced by Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, The Strokes) and mixed by Shawn Everett, Hug Of Thunder includes contributions from all fifteen original members of the band, plus new guest vocalist Ariel Engle.

RADIOHEAD - 'I PROMISE' (XL Recordings)

'I Promise' is one of 3 previously unreleased tracks to be featured on the band’s album OKNOTOK, which will be released on June 23 through XL Recordings. The digital version of the album is now available to preorder.

The release of 'I Promise' is accompanied by a new video for the song, directed by Michal Marczak who previously directed the vignette for 'Identikit' from A Moon Shaped Pool, as well as the clip for Mark Pritchard’s 'Beautiful People' featuring Thom Yorke.

OKNOTOK appears 20 years after the release of Radiohead’s landmark third album OK COMPUTER. The new version features the original album, eight B-sides and also the three previously unissued studio recordings 'I Promise,' 'Lift' and 'Man of War'.

WASHED OUT - 'GET LOST' (Pod)

The unique video for “Get Lost”, directed by Harvey Benschoter, is a colourful animated story using solely magazine cut outs to set the scene in sunny, lavish LA.

Greene’s previously released stand out albums include 2011’s Within and Without which Pitchfork named Best New Music and Paracosm (2013) and both albums were produced with Animal Collective’s Ben Allen. Washed Out's deliciously woozy synth track, “Feel It All Around” was also the theme song for eccentric indie comedy series, Portlandia starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein of alt-rock group, Sleater-Kinney.

The super lush track “Get Lost” is the first taste of new music from Washed Out, released through iconic hip-hop label Stones Throw for rest of the world
and directly licenced by Ernest to Pod/Inertia Music label for Australia and New Zealand.
